HYMIX goes for second Accelerator system

With more than 3,000 vehicles working across the UK, Hymix wanted a vehicle maintenance system that offered information quickly and simply.
After trying an MRP system that seemed too complex to be of much use, the Telford-based supplier of rapid discharge and specialist mortar vehicles was attracted to Accelerator.

Accelerator, created and supplied by Rossendale-based company Technopoly, offers vehicle maintenance in packages to suit all sizes and types of operations, including commercial, HGV, PCV, light goods, civil engineering and caravans, car and motorcycles. It is offered, readily configured in one of three packages, Fleet for the single site operator, Workshop for commercial vehicle repairers and Enterprise for those larger organisations that may require multi-site capability and the features of both of the fleet and workshop packages combined.

Hymix Managing Director Nick Humpish settled on Accelerator’s Enterprise option after weighing up the advantages he believed it had over its rivals.

He said: “We were looking to introduce repair and maintenance but the system we had in was far too complex for everyday use.

“We needed a system that had the ability to track all service and repair work, particularly the serial numbers of components, and it had to be able to provide hyperlinks to other documents.

“But for all of its abilities it also had to be easy to use. With our vehicles being across the UK, a lot of our spares and repair business has to be conducted over the phone with customers. We needed a system that would allow us to call up parts and service information about a vehicle instantly - while we were on the phone talking to the customer about it. We didn’t want a system where we had to end the call to the customer and then start wading through the system to get the info so we could call the customer back.”

Accelerator’s creators pride themselves on the fact that all the information on the system is a double computer click away.

Since taking the Accelerator Enterprise package 18 months ago, Humpish has chosen it again for Hymix’s fabrication business. He believes its ease of use has made his staff more confident with customers and better organised, as the information is both quick and easy to locate.

While he admits he favoured the straightforward approach of Accelerator staff – with no hidden add-on costs and a well-respected support service – Humpish says it was the system itself that won his custom.

He added: “The system is versatile and flexible and was tailored to what we needed. But unlike many other providers, there are no problems with upgrades when it comes to bespoke packages."
“If there is an upgrade then it is easily incorporated into everyone’s Accelerator system, including those who are on bespoke systems.’’
